Istituire un rifugio nella selva (Establishing a Refuge in the Selva)
Traffic Gallery, Bergamo, Italy
Curated with Giulia Galiano

“Istituire un Rifugio nella Selva” is a project that encompasses the ethics of four artists, channeling their identity practices in a sentence that becomes a warning of survival, practicable in the search for a relationship with the “selva” in its various meanings. “Selva” refers to an area of spontaneous vegetation, an uncontaminated dimension, but at the same time it refers to a dense groups or large crowds, a collective unstable entity. Differentiating themselves in their relational modalities with the uncontaminated, with solitude and with the multitude, the artists' productions are projected into this metaphorical space and allow them to establish their refuge in this shared space.
During the exhibition’s opening the artist Matteo Bianchini did a duration performance of four hours titled “This must be the place”.
For the finissage, the artist Gabriele Longega did a relational performance, a shared walk with lectures and reflections title “Walking in the mud without leaving traces”.
